This fund is the most flexible of all Foundation funds, and is the most responsive to the urgent and unmet needs in our community.Donor interest, community assessments and the Foundation’s grantmaking expertise are used to guide grant distributions.
- Your gift is combined with the gifts of other donors, and used to help educate or bring solutions to bear on a particular issue.
- Grant results are monitored, and as conditions in the community change, so does the focus of the grants.
- Unlike the Foundation’s Unrestricted Fund, LCF Community Fund grants are made by the Foundation on behalf of all donors rather than in the name of a specific donor.

One Donor's Story
The Donors
A Midwest couple had reached retirement and were interested in using some of their wealth to benefit multiple organizations following their deaths. They were also aware that the charities in need are not always the ones to receive the necessary funds.
Their Gift
They created a fund to benefit some of their favorite charities and the LCF Community Fund.
Their gift to the LCF Community Fund was combined with other donor gifts to provide relief to earthquake victims in India and to replenish food shelves at LSS of Metropolitan New York’s food pantry immediately following the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001.
