Last year, the Lutheran Community Foundation passed the 10-year milestone. As we move beyond this marker, we are inspired to ask, “Are we there yet?” The answer is that we are well on our way.
The Foundation experienced another year of growth in gifts received and grants to the community in 2006. It is the Foundation’s privilege to serve as steward of all gifts, ensuring that each donor gift and grant spreads joy and changes lives.

• Foundation donors made it possible for more than $8.1 million in grants to go into the community in 2006. These grants went to 1468 charities, each contributing to the Foundation's vision to achieve effective, positive and lasting change throughout our community.
• Lutheran Community Foundation assets grew to more than $189 million in 2006, a 16.6% increase over last year.
• New donors created 229 charitable funds at the Foundation in 2006, and hundreds of existing donors made additional gifts to their funds.
• In late 2006, the Foundation began plans for grantmaking from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds based on Board-approved criteria and minimums. It is through the LCF Community Fund that the Foundation addresses pressing and unmet needs in the community. Specific community needs or issues, such as disaster response, scholarships and Lutheran church body support, are addressed through its eight Field of Interest Funds. Donor gifts to these funds are joined with other donor gifts to accomplish what cannot be done alone.
