MYANMAR CYCLONE

The cyclone that struck Myanmar on May 2, is already one of the most deadly storms in recent history. The death toll has passed 77,000, with an additional 55,000 persons missing. The United Nations estimates that 2.5 million people have been left without shelter or access to clean water.

Lutheran World Relief and its partners have been successful in overcoming the difficult challenges of providing humanitarian relief to help the 24 million people living in the disaster declared areas. CHINA EARTHQUAKE

China's deadliest earthquake since 1976 hit the Sichuan region, May 13. The death toll is currently estimated to be over 40,000. Over 5 million survivors are homeless following the magnitude 7.9 quake.
