LCF AT A GLANCELCF AT A GLANCE

What is the Lutheran Community Foundation (LCF)?

  • A pan-Lutheran, faith based community foundation through which donors can create customized perpetual funds to support their favorite charities and causes. Endowment funds for organizations and congregations are also available.
  • More than 1000 Thrivent FRs have brought outright and deferred gifts to the LCF. These gifts exceeded $623 million as of 12/31/07.
  • More than 5,000 charities across the U.S. are recommended to benefit from charitable funds at the LCF, and $46.6 million has already been granted to charities.
  • Donors do not have to be Lutheran, nor do the benefiting charities.

What does the LCF do?

  • Our professional staff includes attorneys and accountants who assist FRs and donors in planning gifts and transferring assets to the LCF.
  • We provide promotional and educational materials to the field, and prepare customized computer illustrations for presentation to donors. Field News, our quarterly newsletter for Financial Representatives, highlights developments in charitable giving, as does our website for FRs.
  • We work with congregations and other organizations to establish and administer endowment funds.
