While there are many programs in the community for older adults, many of the older adults do not know about them or how to use them.
These funds were used to continue the services of the Care Coordinator (RN) to provide services to tenants at Linwood Place. This enables many of them to continue living independently for a longer period of time and to help several congregations start an older adult ministry in their congregation. These funds also enabled the Faith In Action Committee to provide volunteer services to older adults and co-sponsor a workshop on older adult ministry.
In one family where the husband became quite ill and had to be hospitalized. There was no family in the immediate area. The wife is disabled, and their congregation came to Fox Valley Lutheran Homes for help. With counseling by the care coordinator, the wife was sent to a care home until her husband was able to take care of her once again. After he was out of the hospital he joined her at the care home for rehab. They are now both back home and are able to take care of themselves.
