The LCF Disaster Response Fund gave $5,000 to Camp Noah in 2009 to help promote emotional, physical and spiritual healing for children who have been victims of a disaster.
Camp Noah is a values-based, therapeutic day camp program that facilitates emotional and psychological recovery of children throughout the United States. There will be at least 10 camps in 2010, serving a variety of locations throughout the United States where residents have been affected by disasters such as floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.
The five-day curriculum provides an opportunity for children to have fun and share their story in a safe place where they can overcome fears, and accept their losses. This support can be especially beneficial for displaced children who face anxiety and confusion of being away from home.
Camp Noah partners with local organizations, congregations and the communities in which each camp is conducted, to empower local disaster recovery support.
The LCF Disaster Response Fund provides relief to communities and victims of disasters. This fund distributes annual grants to charities based on LCF research, in partnership with Lutheran Disaster Response.
