This grant supported "Support for Great Nurses for a Great Community Campaign," a $5.5 million initiative to recruit, train and retain nurses critical nursing personnel to ensure optimal staffing for safe, quality patient care at Harrison Medical Center.
"It's very difficult to imagine succeeding as a new nurse without it," said one graduate. "The leap from school to real life practice is just too big to make without this kind of support and the stepping stones set up along the way. "
The on-the-job training program for newly hired nurse graduates aids their successful transition from student to staff nurses, who must be able to confidentally provide safe quality care for patients in a complex acute care setting.
"It also has helped me feel a sense of belonging at Harrison and in the community. Whereas other new nurses I've talked to have gone through multiple jobs in their first year of employment," continued the graduate.
