OHIOHEALTH FOUNDATIONOHIOHEALTH FOUNDATION

Columbus, Ohio
$9,115 from a Donor Advised Fund

This grant was used for general operating support for Riverside Methodist Hospital (RMH) and Grant Medical Center’s (GMC) Cancer Services. The funds helped to maintain current cancer services offered to patients as well as help in expansion of services in certain areas.

One patient, Jackie McDonald, was specifically helped by the mobile mamography truck program. Because she is self-employed, Jackie didn’t have health insurance and originally thought the OhioHealth mobile mammography truck was too expensive. However, the unit serves as many women as possible, no matter their ability to pay.

Unfortunately for Jackie, the test detected a lump that turned out to be breast cancer. Luckily, Jackie was able to detect the cancer in its early stages.“I owe them my life,” said Jackie. “Because it was caught early and I went to Riverside Methodist Hospital for care, I’m now a two-year breast cancer survivor. I can never do enough to repay OhioHealth for what they’ve done for me.”
